KARIMNAGAR: BJP district president P. Sugunakar Rao has said that the party will field its candidate if byelection is held for the Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency and win with a thumping majority. Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, he said that BJP candidate Ch. Vidyasagar Rao had won from Karimnagar in 1998 and 1999 elections with a huge majority. In 2004, the party candidate was defeated because the party could not give an assurance on separate Telangana following an alliance with the TDP. He said that the BJP alone could give statehood for Telangana and people had full confidence on the party in this regard. He said that people would teach "a fitting lesson to the Congress" for betraying the region and also for the steep increase in the prices of essential commodities. He also found fault with TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Minister for Sports M. Satyanarayana Rao for neglecting the development of Karimnagar district. He said that the TRS had committed mistake by forging an alliance with the Congress party, which had betrayed the Telangana.
Liberation Day
Demanding that the State Government celebrate the Telangana Liberation Day as State festival on September 17, the BJP leader said that they would hoist the national flag in the district and all mandal headquarters on September 17.
Party elections
He also said that the district BJP organisational elections would be held in Karimnagar on September 26 and 27 to elect new office-bearers. BJP leaders B Jaganmohan Rao and S Ravinder Singh were also present.
