HYDERABAD: It seemed yet another attempt at a major encroachment when Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) directed its officials to stop pre-construction work in land adjacent to the HUDA layout in Miyapur on Thursday. However, HUDA authorities clarified that they had stalled the work in a five-acre plot in Miyapur as they were awaiting re-fixation of boundary between their lands and the private adjacent land in Nizampet by the revenue authorities. Pending the physical demarcation of lands under the purview of HUDA and Government land of five acres assigned to an ex-serviceman in 1983, HUDA was not allowing any construction, HUDA Secretary P.Venkatram Reddy explained. HUDA developed layout plan for 376.31 acres in Miyapur handed over to it by the Government in 1981 under Sites and Services Scheme when there was hardly any development in the area. The layout plan prepared in 1985 however erroneously included an additional Government area of 12.28 acres along the border and falling in Nizampet village, he said. It came to light later that a patta was earlier given for five acres of additional land included in HUDA layout under survey no.233 in Nizampet village to an ex-serviceman N.Gopala Krishna Murthy vide proceedings No.B1/3196/83 in 1983. Subsequently, the Deputy Collector and MRO confirmed the assignment patta vide proceedings No.A9010/2003 in December, 2004 and the same was noted in revenue records.
Disputed area
Even the report of the Assistant Director, Survey and Land Records, in 2000 showed the actual extent of land given to HUDA and referred to the additional area as disputed area. HUDA, which had realised its error then appealed to the Ranga Reddy Collector to hand over remaining 7.28 acres adjacent to HUDA layout as it was not assigned to anyone and it had been guarding the entire 12.28 acres from encroachments , Mr.Venkatram Reddy said.
