HYDERABAD: The Secunderabad Cantonment Board's (SCB) project to improve and redesign the Jubilee Bus Station junction is finally nearing completion. The tarring work, which was delayed for more than three months, has begun with an initial coat of tar already being laid and the final coating to be done in a week. The entire area now sports a fresh look with greenery being laid, medians set up and the main road divided into four lanes to ease traffic congestion. A traffic signal, hitherto defunct is finally blinking while a bus bay for city buses is getting finishing touches. The traffic engineering design work, handled by Raj Expedith Associates, was taken up after traffic chaos had become a daily 24x7 affair at the junction, which has five roads leading away from it. These included roads to the busy Karimnagar Highway via Secunderabad Club, the Picket road, a side-road towards Diamond Point, one towards Lamba theatre and one to the NCC Directorate. "The entire work should be over in a couple of weeks, may be even less than that," an SCB official said. Meanwhile, the long-pending work on repairing the West Marredpally main road has also begun.
