KOCHI: Colourful processions, organised by Balagokulam, marked Sri Krishna Jayanthi celebrations on Thursday. Hundreds of children dressed up as Krishna participated in the `Shobhayatra' taken out in the evening. Decorated `rathams' and tableau depicting different stages in the life of Lord Krishna formed part of the processions. Tiny tots were attired in attractive costumes. Many of them were carried by their parents in their arms as they were unable to walk long distances. Mythological characters, including Kuchela, Narada, Arjuna and Radha, were the highlights of the processions. Hundreds of people gathered at roadsides to watch the Shbhayatra. The `little Krishnas and Radhas' later converged at the Ernakulam Siva temple grounds. Traffic was disrupted on M.G. Road where the main procession was taken out. However, the police had made elaborate arrangements to minimise inconvenience to commuters. The devotees too displayed a rare sense of discipline, as the procession moved along the crowded roads. It was a procession with a difference when compared to the rallies the city witnesses day in and day out.
