Auto driver robbed of phone

BANGALORE: Three men robbed an autorickshaw driver of a mobile phone in Subramanyapura police station limits on Wednesday. The robbers also assaulted the driver and drove away with his autorickshaw.

The police said that around 10.30 p.m. the three men boarded Gopalakrishna's autorickshaw at Jaraganahalli and asked him to drop them at ISRO Layout. On reaching a secluded area in Vasantha Vallabhanagar, they relived Gopalakrishna of his mobile phone and escaped in his autorickshaw.

Gopalakrishna lodged a complaint with Subramanyapura police station. On the advice of the police, when Gopalakrishna dialled his number, the robbers took the call and told him that they would leave the autorickshaw near a water tank in Channapatna. The vehicle was found abandoned there, the police said.

Motorist killed

Kumaresh (28) was killed after a truck hit his motorcycle near Rajagopal Circle, near HMT auditorium, in Yeshwanthpur traffic police station limits on Wednesday. Kumaresh, who worked in a courier agency, was a resident of Kanakanagar in R.T. Nagar.
