Woman commits suicide
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
An 18-year-old agarbathi factory worker Sabina Taj allegedly committed suicide by setting herself ablaze at Gorguntepalya in the J.J. Nagar police station limits on Thursday.
According to the police, frequent harassment by Sabina Taj's husband Ahmed Basha (21) had reportedly forced her to take the extreme step. It was alleged that he would come home drunk regularly and demand money from her. If she refused, he would pick up a quarrel and harass her both mentally and physically, the police said.
On Thursday, at about 9 a.m., Sabina Taj is said to have doused herself with kerosene before setting herself on fire. The couple were married for six months. The police have arrested Ahmed.
