ALUVA: Holder Malappuram scored an easy 4-0 win over Kasargod and moved into the semifinals of the second State inter-district under-13 football championship at the Municipal stadium here on Friday. M. Akeeb (9th and 48th minutes), Ujaz Ali (57th) and Semeel (69th) were the scorers. Malappuram will take on Idukki, which knocked out Thiruvananthapuram via the tie-breaker (6-5). The teams were 2-2 at the end of regulation time. The second semifinal on September 17 will be played between host Ernakulam and Wayanad. Ernakulam trounced Kozhikode 10-1, while Wayanad defeated Thrissur 3-1. Ernakulam's hero was Akhil P. Joseph who scored in the 26th, 32nd, 34th and 54th minutes. The other scorers were Akash Pradeep (29th), K.J. Jaymon (30th), Abishek Srinivasan (33rd), Bryan Xavier (37th and 38th) and Abishek Joshi (55th). N.P. Ismail got the consolation goal for Kozhikode. Wayanad's win against Thrissur came after conceding a third-minute goal, scored by Emil Varghese. However, Wayanad stamped its class through K. Akhil (20th), Derrick Don (48th) and Mohammed Rafi (54th). Saturday will be a rest day.
