HYDERABAD: The 21st Century Gurkulams, a concept of the State Government to train rural students for the IT industry, are likely to be inaugurated on November 1 in six universities. In a press conference on Thursday, APSCHE Chairman K.C. Reddy said the entrance test would be held on October 15 and efforts had been on to complete the admission process by October end so that classes could begin on November 1, the State formation day. He said a three-tier selection process would be adopted with a written test, counselling of selected candidates and medical tests. The recruitment of faculty would be completed by September end and they would undergo training at the IIIT for one month.
Six centres
In the first year the six Gurukulams would admit 300 candidates with 50 students each accommodated in the six centres. So far 150 candidates had taken the applications, said Prof. K. C. Reddy. He added that much should not be read into the poor response. Students can submit applications till September 27. The applications forms are being sold at all degree colleges .
