Water supply disruption

Thiruvananthapuram: Water supply to the Valiasala, Mettukada, Thycaud, Killipalam and Kochar road areas will be partially disrupted from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on September 16 due to repair work on a pipeline, the Kerala Water Authority has informed. — Special Correspondent

Coastal Clean-up Day

Thiruvananthapuram: Volunteers from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) - India and the Environmental Sciences Department, All Saints College, will clean up the Sanghumukham beach here on September 16 as part of the International Coastal Clean-up Day. The programme starts at 3 p.m. The collected litter will be sorted and weighed and the data compiled into an international format sheet. This will be followed by film shows on marine and coastal ecosystem and awareness programmes. — Special Correspondent

AISF plans agitation

Thiruvananthapuram: The All India Students Federation (AISF) State secretariat is planning an agitation to press the Government to implement the P.A. Mohammed Commission report recommending cancellation of the admission test by private self-financing colleges. A release issued by the AISF on Friday said the Government decision not to take action on the report violated political decorum. AISF volunteers would take out a march to the Secretariat on Tuesday to press the demand. — Special Correspondent

Ozone Day celebrations

Thiruvananthapuram: Oxford School, Thiruvananthapuram, organised a photo session, seminar and quiz competition in connection with the Ozone Day celebrations on Friday. Speakers at the seminar stressed the need for collective efforts to reduce pollution and conserve the ozone layer. Gopika Dutt led the students in taking the ozone pledge. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions held as part of the Ozone Day celebrations. — Special Correspondent

House burgled

Thiruvananthapuram: Thieves broke into a house at Chadiyara lane, Poojappura, in broad daylight on Friday and decamped with 11 sovereigns of gold and Rs.3,000 in cash. The house belongs to M.C. Raghavan, private secretary to the Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. The theft took place between 9.45 a.m. and 5.15 p.m., when Mr.Raghavan and his wife had gone to office and the house was locked up. — Special Correspondent
