Special Correspondent

Sadananda Gowda to write to Chief Minister

  • No final decision has been taken on sharing of posts in boards and corporations between BJP, JD(S)
  • BJP to support bandh call given by Kannada organisations

GULBARGA: President of the State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party Sadananda Gowda said on Saturday that the party would pressure Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa to include the Rs. 150-crore bribery charge made by suspended BJP MLC Janardhan Reddy in the terms of reference of the Justice U.L. Bhat Commission of Inquiry.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Gowda said he would write to the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister. He admitted that the BJP which had first demanded constitution of an inquiry commission, had said that the corruption charges levelled by Mr. Reddy be included in the terms of reference.

Mr. Gowda said no final decision had been taken on sharing of posts in boards and corporations between the two parties and only a rough list of the corporations and boards had been prepared which was yet to be approved by both the parties. On the bandh call given by some Kannada organisations on October 4, demanding that the Union Government implement the recommendations of the Mahajan Commission report to settle the border dispute between Karnataka and Maharashtra, Mr. Gowda said that the party was of the view that the Mahajan Commission recommendations should be the basis for the settlement of the border dispute and the party would support the bandh call.

    Shoba Yatra

On the controversy surrounding the Shoba Yatra at Bababudangiri Hills during the Datta Jayanthi celebrations in December, Mr. Gowda felt Home Minister M.P. Prakash should not have made a unilateral announcement banning the Shoba Yatra and any decision should be taken after discussions in the coordination committee of both parties.
