IT growth linked to forays into towns

HYDERABAD:
"India need to be scared of international competition in information technology from countries like Vietnam as it has the ability to create 25 Vietnams if all the States play pro-active role," Prashant Srivastava, country head, Gallup India, said on Friday.
Address the Executive Recruiters' Association (ERA)'s national conference, he said development and employment in the IT sector, now confined to the big cities, could expand phenomenally if it spread to smaller cities and towns.
S. Padmanabhan, executive vice-president, Global Human Resources of Tata Consultancy Services, said for India to be global, it hadto look beyond the shores. T. Sreedhar, chairman of ERA and managing director of TMI Network, and Ghanta Subba Rao, Government's Chief Information Technology Officer, spoke.
