Coimbatore: Construction materials, stylish furniture, modern electrical equipment and financial security services all find a place at `Constructive 2006', an exhibition for interiors, exteriors and building materials that opened at Padmavathi Ammal Cultural Centre in the city on Saturday.

Organised by Innovative Trade Fairs, the expo has over 85 stalls, some of them even from Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai.

The expo will be open to the public till September 18.

Anything required for a home, starting from the right construction plan to furnishings and materials needed for the kitchen are available, making it a must-visit for homemakers.

Software

If it is the perfect plan for a house, Bhaarath CAD Tech, a Chennai-based Consultancy service has software called an "Instant Architect," which provides pre-designed home plans on a compact disc. These discs also allow the user to edit the plan and make the changes that he or she desires.

"The best thing about the `Instant Architect' is that the people can visualise the dream home they want to construct and have an idea of the plan before actually starting the work," said R.Chakravarthy, Designer for Bhaarath CAD Tech.

With KRemot's remote controls, one need not get up from the chair or sofa to switch on or switch off lights or the fan. Just pressing a button on the compact remote control unit can operate them. The devices can control four lights and a fan from as far as 40 feet away.

No more long hours of wait for warm water. Aquatic's Insta Hot gives hot water almost at the same instant it is switched on.

It has penta safety units that automatically switch the device off, making it secure for home use.

The automatic chapatti makers are sure to become an instant hit among the women as it can dole out fresh chapattis within a few minutes.

All you have to do is to place a ball of dough on it and close the lid. This saves the trouble of having to roll out the chapattis and worrying about the perfect round shape.

Concrete tiles

For decorating porches and car parks, concrete tiles come in attractive shades. They can withstand the weight of parked vehicles and do not break easily, says the dealer of this Coimbatore-based product.

World Space satellite radio, which offers unlimited entertainment with over 40 channels, 24 hours a day, has also set up a stall.

While the satellite receivers come for Rs.1,500 and 2,500, the subscription rates vary and customers can chose according to their requirements.
