BANGALORE: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee has constituted four teams to study the implementation of relief programmes in the drought- and flood-affected areas of the State as well as other schemes in rural areas of Belgaum, Gulbarga, Mysore and Bangalore revenue divisions. The teams will be headed by Basavaraj Patil Anwari, former Union Minister; N.S. Boseraju, MLA; V.R. Sudarshan, MLC and former Chairman of the Legislative Council; and T.B. Jayachandra, former Minister. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president M. Mallikarjun Kharge told presspersons here on Saturday that these fact-finding teams would submit a comprehensive report to the KPCC. Based on the findings of the teams, the KPCC would prepare an action plan and urge the Government to take action. The Government had declared 117 taluks drought hit. But relief works had not been taken up in Belgaum, Bijapur, Bagalkot and Raichur districts, which were caught in the grip of both drought and floods. The teams would visit the divisional offices in each taluk and district to ascertain if the Government had implemented the promised works effectively, Mr. Kharge said. Block and district committees of the party would also launch special programmes to create awareness among people about the claims of the Government on the implementation of various programmes. On the legislature session to be held in Belgaum for five days from September 25, Mr. Kharge welcomed the Government's decision to respond to the demand of the people of the region.
