KOTTAYAM: The process of merger with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was part of the start up to the formation of a national-level third front against the Congress, K. Muraleedharan, president of the Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) has said. Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, Mr. Muraleedharan reiterated his stance that it was a confluence of those having Congress culture and said the stand taken by the CPI(M) would have no influence on the process. He has been in touch with the national and State-level leaders of the NCP and even after the public pronouncement by the CPI(M) leadership on the merger issue, they had not made any change in their earlier stance.
