MP runs riot

FARIDABAD: Rahmat Beg waded through a hapless defence scoring thrice as Madhya Pradesh crushed Rajasthan 8-0 in a Cluster III match of the Santosh Trophy National football championship here on Saturday.

Beg opened the scoring in the second minute and then slotted in two more towards the end of the match, scoring in the 71st and 91st minutes. Suresh Rajak (73rd, 77th), V. Shibu (18th, 50th) and Praveen Nair (62nd) made hay as the Rajasthan defence was in tatters. In Gurgaon, Bihar defeated Pondicherry 1-0 in a Cluster I match. After a goalless first half, Niranjan Patel struck the winner in the 70th minute.

Sunday's fixtures: At Gurgaon: Mizoram v Uttar Pradesh, Meghalaya v Andaman and Nicobar. At Faridabad: Chandigarh v Assam, Services v Sikkim. — Special Correspondent
