JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee on Saturday expelled yet another lot of party men from Bharatpur and Alwar districts who were served notices earlier on charges of anti-party activities. The immediate provocation for the PCC action seems to be the attempts made by a group of persons to disturb a meeting in Kaman the other day, called to offer tributes to those killed in a water tank collapse last month. PCC president B.D. Kalla, acting on the recommendations of the party's Disciplinary Committee, ordered the expulsion of Rajbir Singh, Zila Pramukh of Bharatpur; Laxman Singh, former Pradhan of Deeg; Nasru Khan, Up-Pradhan of Kaman; Jogendra Singh, former spokesperson of the Bharatpur District Congress; Yashwant Singh Ramoo, former MLA; Nihal Meena, PCC secretary; and Ali Hussain, president of the Kaman block Congress Committee. Those who have been removed from the primary membership of the party also include Tikaram Juli, Zila Pramukh of Alwar; Zakir Khan, Pradhan, Umrain; Shabhana Khan, former Deputy Zila Pramukh of Alwar; and Bacchu Singh Tiwari, president of the Block Congress Committee, Laxmangarh. Referring to the reasons for the expulsion, Mr. Kalla said all the persons, barring Nihal Meena and Ali Hussain, had failed to respond to the show-cause notices issued to them by the PCC in August. Action was being taken against Mr. Meena and Mr. Hussain for their role in the disturbances in the meeting at Kaman, he noted. All those expelled on Saturday reportedly belong to the camp of Jagat Singh, MLA and son of former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh. Mr. Jagat Singh was expelled from the Congress last month.
