CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Saturday announced a bonanza for 20,000 Haryana Roadways employees. This includes Rs.13 crores as bonus arrears for 2004-05 and 2005-06, Rs. 1.20 crores as enhanced ceiling on shoes and Rs. 25 lakhs as increased night allowance for workshop employees. Addressing the Haryana Roadways Employees' Conference at Murthal, Mr. Hooda also announced enhancement of the yearly bonus from Rs.3,000 to Rs.3,250. He said the Sir Chhotu Ram College of Engineering would be upgraded to a technical university and renamed Sir Chhotu Ram Haryana State Technical University. He made it clear that the rights and liberties of the Haryana Roadways workers would be safeguarded and the Roadways would not be privatised at any cost. He said his regime was committed to adequate supply of water, equitable distribution of water in the State and abundant power supply. "Haryana would be able to generate around 5,000 MW more power after three or four years." Claiming that the law and order situation had improved, he asserted that he would not allow the criminals to stay in Haryana. Mr. Hooda also released a CD of the first tele-film of Haryana, `Kamla', at Karnal to create public awareness against the female foeticide. He hoped the film would serve as a "voice" against this evil practice.
