Nominations invited for Tamil Nadu Scientist Award

Carries cash prize of Rs.10,000 and a citation

CHENNAI: Every year, the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology recognises outstanding research work or skill or talent acquired by scientists and technologists in disciplines such as the agricultural sciences, biological sciences and environmental sciences by presenting the `Tamil Nadu Scientist Award' (TANSA).

It is bestowed on a person who has made conspicuously important and outstanding contribution to human knowledge and progress in his or her particular field of endeavour.

Applications are invited for TANSA-2006 from candidates who fulfil the following criteria: the applicant should be a native of Tamil Nadu engaged in research or innovation or feat in any of the specified fields, and should have worked in Tamil Nadu during the 10 preceding years.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs.10,000 and a citation. The last date for submission is November 30. The application can be downloaded from www.tanscst.org, where more details are available.
