Kochi: Former judge of the Supreme Court V.R. Krishna Iyer said here on Saturday that the authorities should take care not to endanger the existence of the people while formulating development projects. Mr. Krishna Iyer was inaugurating a new organisation, Greater Cochin Citizen's Council, formed for protecting the rights of the residents of the Greater Kochi area and for working towards the welfare of the public by intervening in social and environmental issues. He pointed out that the plight of the residents of Kochi was almost similar to that of a people facing the ravages of a war zone. The spectre of corruption was upsetting the purposeful development activities , he said. K. Aravindakshan presided over the meeting. M.K. Sanoo, C.R. Neelakantan and T.M. Mohammed Yousef also spoke on the occasion.
