BANGALORE: Two armed men robbed a housewife and a youth of a gold chain and two mobile phones, all worth Rs. 40,000, in Tilaknagar police station limits on Friday. The police said that around 8 p.m. Anitha Madhusudhan and her daughter Sneha (11) were walking near their house on 35th `C' Cross, 28th Main, 4th `T' Block, Jayanagar when a youth approached Anitha, threatened her with a knife and snatched her gold chain worth Rs. 10,000. He escaped on a motorcycle on which his accomplice was waiting at a distance. After covering some distance, the pillion rider got down and stopped Rohit (20) on 28th Main on the pretext of enquiring an address. He threatened Rohit with a knife and robbed him of two mobile phones worth Rs. 30,000 and sped away with his accomplice, the police said. The Tilaknagar police have registered separate cases.
Girl killed
Three persons, including a 12-year-old girl, were killed in two separate accidents in the city on Saturday. The police said Murali (22) a mobile phone repairer and Abhilash (20), a college student, who were riding a motorcycle were killed when a bus hit their two-wheeler on Hosur Road. The driver of the bus has been arrested. Jayalakshmi who was returning from a school was killed when a lorry hit her as she was crossing the Ring Road near Hebbal. She was a resident of Bhadrappa Layout. Angered by the accident, people from the area damaged the vehicle, the police said.
Two killed
Raghu (26), a bank employee, was killed when he rammed his car against a roadside tree on Sai Baba Temple Street in Ulsoor traffic police station limits in the early hours of Saturday. The accident occurred around 1.30 a.m. while Raghu was returning to his Indiranagar house after attending a party, the police said. The Ulsoor traffic police have registered a case. A lorry driver was killed when he hit a stationary lorry on Bellary Road, off the Air Force campus, on Friday. The Yelahanka traffic police have seized the two lorries and registered a case.
Bakery worker robbed
Four men attacked a bakery worker with a chopper, tore his clothes and robbed him of a mobile phone worth Rs. 10,000 in Kadugondanahalli police station limits in the early hours of Saturday. The police said that around 1 a.m. S. Ahmed was walking towards his house on Vinayaka Temple Street after watching a film at a nearby cinema. Four men, who came on two motorcycles, waylaid Ahmed and tried to snatch his mobile phone. When he resisted, they hit him on the head with a chopper and made away with the cellphone. On a complaint by Ahmed, who works in a bakery in HRBR Layout, the Kadugondanahalli police have registered a case.
Ends life
Dasamma (35) committed suicide by hanging herself from the grills of the Shiva Temple on Ganga Bhavani Road at Kodigehalli in Hebbal police station limits on Friday night. Passers-by saw the body on Saturday morning and informed the police.
