HYDERABAD: Former CLP leader P. Janardhan Reddy and Sanatnagar MLA M. Sashidhar Reddy called on Home Minister K. Jana Reddy on Sunday over breakfast and discussed the recent political developments. The meeting, lasting more than 90 minutes, saw the two leaders raising the controversial issue of diversion of floodwaters from Srisailam to Pothireddypadu head regulator and the announcement of resignation by the TRS president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, from the Lok Sabha and the offer by two Ministers, M. Satyanarayana Rao and Md Ali Shabbir, to quit the Assembly seats. Party sources said Mr. Janardhan Reddy and Mr. Sashidhar Reddy impressed upon Mr. Jana Reddy the fact that they had been raising the issue of Pothireddypadu with genuine concern for the people of Telangana. They wanted the Government to draw water from above the weir level of Srisailam for Pothireddypadu head regulator. They were understood to have questioned the need for the Chief Minister to write an open letter to the party legislators and MPs on the issue.
Careful treatment
Referring to exchange of challenges and counter-challenges by the TRS and Congress leaders, they reportedly pointed out that the two Ministers would not have tendered their resignation without the approval of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. The two legislators felt that the recent political developments could have been avoided if the party had handled the Telangana issue carefully. The Home Minister reportedly assured the two MLAs that he would discuss the Pothireddypadu issue with the Chief Minister and see that the interests of the people of Telangana were not affected.
