MYSORE: A 46-year-old person was stabbed to death in Mysore on Friday. Police said Nayaz Ahmed, a resident of Ghousia Nagar in Mysore, was stabbed by Kalim Pasha (28), a resident of Beedi Colony in Udayagiri, after the former refused to give his daughter in marriage to the latter. Nayaz Ahmed's daughter was engaged to Kalim Pasha, who had been working in an automobile garage. But, Nayaz Ahmed decided to call off the engagement after he learnt that Kalim Pasha had been whiling away his time lately and was not employed. Kalim Pasha met Nayaz Pasha several times and urged him not to break the engagement, but the latter did not relent. On Friday, Kalim Pasha went to meet Nayaz Ahmed when he was stocking old tyres in a godown near a marriage hall in Udayagiri Beedi Colony. He picked up a quarrel with Nayaz Ahmed and stabbed him in the abdomen and chest. Passers-by shifted Nayaz Ahmed to K R Hospital where he died later in the day. The Udayagiri police registered a case and arrested Kalim Pasha and produced him before the court. He has been remanded to judicial custody, police said.
