Rare honour for Koraput tribal girl

To visit Belgium as India's ambassador to propagate education pattern of tribal girls

JEYPORE : Tuni Muduli, a 16-year old X class student and tribal girl from Mukhibidal village under Similiguda block of Koraput district has received a rare honour of visiting Belgium as India's ambassador to propagate the culture, tradition and life style of tribal girls and education pattern in Koraput district.

She will leave for Belgium on Thursday.

The UNICEF team that visited the village was impressed by the girl as she, even while pursuing her studies, is working as a labourer and doing household chores in some residence to economically support her family.

Accident claims life

One person was killed and 10 others were injured at Dhuvali village on Pottangi-Similiguda route in Koraput district on Sunday when the villagers of Paligumandi were proceeding to the Similiguda weekly market in a jeep that met with an accident. One Kalia Santa of Tankubeda villaged died.

Villagers lock school

Villagers of Bairava Singapur locked the local primary school protesting the attitude of the authorities in not appointing sufficient number of teachers in the one teacher school that caters to 150 students.

The villagers led by Sudharsana Mahankunda, Brunda Panda and Simhachal Rath participated in the stir.
