Raghuveera allays fears over seed corp.

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy has denied reports that the Andhra Pradesh Seeds Development Corporation is sought to be closed and announced plans to strengthen it . At a press conference here on Monday, the Minister said the rumours were untrue.

The corporation, on the other hand, was being given thrust through an action plan.

The action plan aimed at cent per cent seed replacement in three years, with Rs. 600 crores coming from the Centre, and development of hybrid varieties of sunflower, maize and cotton by the corporation. Mr. Reddy, however, ruled out withdrawal of G.O. No. 35, which listed the corporation for closure.
