Improving efficiency

Will the renovated District Collectorate, with its new computerised system to be opened by Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan on September 22, ensure a change in the performance of officials?

When the question was posed to District Collector Ishita Roy at a press conference here on Tuesday, she said she was confident that the new system would improve the efficiency of the staff.

Training modules prepared for equipping the staff with skills required for working with an electronic file tracking system could enhance the efficiency of officials, she said.

Ms. Roy, however, admitted that the new system being experimented in the renovated Collectorate was likely to show some unexpected snags since it was a new experiment. MOHAMED NAZEER
