Kochi
A workshop organised by the Coir Board in Kochi last week was unique as it started on time at 10 a.m. Another rarity was that Union Minister for Small Scale Industries Mahavir Prasad addressed the gathering in Hindi. Most Keralites are familiar with the national language, but following the nuances of the oration was not easy for many among the audience. They, however, enjoyed his style of address, including the lavish praises, such as `Karmaseel' and `Vidwan,' bestowed upon Kerala Minister for Finance T.M. Thomas Isaac. He went a step further, calling the Finance Minister `Kuber,' because the latter handles the money of the State. Perhaps, the Union Minister's presence added a national flavour to the `coir-centric' affair.
