Laxman Singh Negi and Archana Bisht are not ordinary children. Now on a mission, they are spreading awareness about various issues in Chamoli through comics, films, posters and photographs. While most kids from their village have never travelled much outside, Laxman and Archana have gone all the way to Geneva to make their point. Associated with non-government organisation Plan India, they were among 30 children from across the globe who got a chance to voice their opinion at the United Nations on the Annual Day of General Discussion. Ambassadors of Child Rights at the Geneva discussion, Laxman and Archana managed to make their point in front of non-government workers as well as government officials. This conclave took place earlier this month, bringing children on an international platform for the first time. Fighting issues like alcoholism, Laxman uses his comics to talk about its effects on children. His efforts seem to have managed to get many people in his village to give up alcohol consumption. Plan India, which has worked with these two children, aims to give kids participation at all levels. Giving attention to the voices of children to have a say in the society, it has been working with children in different parts of the country. -- Mandira Nayar
