Staff Reporter

Consul General watches movie at a private screening

CHENNAI: The United States Consul General in Chennai, David T. Hopper, watched the Kamal Haasan-Jyothika starrer `Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu' at a private screening in the city last Friday.

During the break, the diplomat spoke to those behind the film about the impact Indian students and professionals were making on American society, especially on the cultural scene.

The revenue earned by an Indian film screened in the U.S. was more than any other foreign language film. The reason: Indian films were watched and appreciated not only by Indian Americans but also by the Americans.

Unlike Hollywood films, Indian films were a mix of music, drama, action ... "... I thoroughly enjoyed watching the film," Mr. Hopper said.
