ANANTAPUR: The Anti Corruption Bureau arrested Sub-Inspector of Police of Vidapanakal village S.M. Dowla on Tuesday while accepting a bribe of Rs. 1,000. An ACB team led by DSP K. Subba Rao registered a case after B. Anajanaiah of the village approached them on Monday alleging that the SI was demanding bribe to issue a copy of FIR with regard to his brother Vandrappa's accidental death for claiming ex gratia under Apadbandhu scheme. - Staff Reporter

Nil per cent quoted

KADAPA: Five agencies quoted nil percentage in their bids filed for filling 430 posts by outsourcing in Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences. Bids filed by 27 contractors were opened at the Collectorate. The Collector said he would finalise the tenders in a few days. - Staff Reporter

Boy held on rape charge

ADILABAD: Sixteen-year-old boy P. Srikant was arrested by the Naspur police on Tuesday on the charge of raping a minor girl. Panther killing probe

KURNOOL: Forest officials searched the Nallamala forest in Atmakur, Markapur and Achampet divisions on Tuesday to detect the spot of panther's killing. Officials seized its skin at bus stand at Srisailam on Mondday. Ashok Kumar, DFO, said the animal might have been killed four days ago in the forest. It is believed that the wild cat was poisoned to death. - Staff Reporter

Officer in CBI net

VISAKHAPATNAM: The CBI trapped Central Labour Enforcement Officer G. Sunita when she allegedly demanded and accepted Rs.15,000 from the owner of a shopping plaza at her residence on Monday. She was remanded till September 29. Raids are being conducted on her residences in Bhubaneswar where her husband is working and at Berhampur. - Special Correspondent

Two electrocuted

Srikakulam: Two persons — U. Durgamma (55) and her daughter Rajulu (25) of Arangi village in Gara mandal — were electrocuted when they came in touch with an electricity wire on Tuesday. - Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Government on Monday issued orders merging 50 per cent of the DA to the basic pension with effect from April 1 for retired teachers of all universities and Government degree and aided colleges who had been drawing UGC scales and who retired after January 1, 1996. - Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Peri Subba Rao is new chairman of the Associate Banks Officers' Association of State Bank of Hyderabad. He was elected for the 2006-09. Other office-bearers are: Peddi Sudhakar (vice-chairman), Harshavardhan Madabhushi (secretary), V.V.B.S. Ranga Prasad (organising secretary), T. Rama Murthy (treasurer).
