HASSAN: Minister for Public Works and Energy H.D. Revanna has said that the Government planned to allot sites to teachers at subsidised prices in taluk and district places, besides addressing problems faced by them.
`Give quality education'
Mr. Revanna, who inaugurated a programme organised by the district administration, the zilla panchayat and the Department of Public Instruction to mark the Teachers' Day on Monday, appealed to the teachers to improve the quality of education in the district and help in putting the district on the top slot in terms of education. He said the district-level convention of school and college teachers would be convened to discuss the problems faced by them. Efforts would be made to provide basic amenities at the newly opened schools and colleges across the district, including recruitment of teachers. He said 7,993 bicycles had been distributed among girls hailing from poor families. Referring to the delay in inaugurating much-delayed Ambedkar Bhavan in Hassan, he said work on the construction of building would be completed and the building would be inaugurated on October 2.
Felicitated
Teachers who secured State-level awards were felicitated on the occasion. Hassan MLA H.S. Prakash, zilla panchayat president Annappa Shetty, vice-president Kamakshi Raju, and Deputy Commissioner K.H. Ashwathanarayana Gowda and zilla panchayt Chief Executive Officer F.R. Jamaadar, were present.
