25 detained, Jaipur areas still tense

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: Over 25 persons were detained in the Hasanpura area of Jaipur on Tuesday in connection with violence that followed an attack on the anti-encroachment squad of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation. The clash between crowds belonging to two communities on Monday had left 15 persons injured.

The area remained tense on Tuesday with most of the shops remaining closed and a large number of Special Task Force (STF) jawans and policemen patrolled the trouble spots on Hatwara Road. The police said the situation was now fully under control.

The attack on the JMC squad took a communal tinge on Monday when Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Bajrang Dal activists came out in support of the anti-encroachment drive.
