Gold appraiser of TTD arrested

HYDERABAD:
Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday arrested Devarasetty Suresh Babu, working as a gold appraiser in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, on a charge of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Searches conducted by the authorities at his house in Tirumala and those of his relatives at Chennai revealed that he had amassed property and wealth worth Rs. 82.58 lakhs, a press release said.
His properties included a four-storeyed building and two house sites at Tirupati, a poultry farm shed with machinery and 18 acres of agricultural land at Srikalahasthi, diamond and gold jewellery worth Rs. 22 lakhs, 25 kg of silver ornaments and Rs. 2 lakhs in cash. He would be produced before a special court at Nellore.
