Renamed as Entry Point

Inter-state limit to be referred to as Entry Point in official records Water realisation at the Point declined to 400 cubic feet per second
CHENNAI
: Zero Point at Uthukottai, which is the point of receipt of water from Andhra Pradesh under the Telugu Ganga Project, has been renamed Entry Point.
A Public Works Department official said it was decided to rename Zero Point, as it did not convey the meaning of being the entry point for the water released from the Kandaleru reservoir.
The water released from Kandaleru travels 152 km before reaching the Tamil Nadu border. From Zero Point, the water has to cover another 25 km to reach the Poondi dam.
The official said the inter-state limit would now be referred to as Entry Point in the official records.
Meanwhile, water realisation at the Entry Point saw a decline on Tuesday to 400 cubic feet per second due to decrease in water release from Kandaleru reservoir because of cyclone warning in Kalahasti en route.
