COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore and Erode District Dravida Panchalai Thozhilalar Munnetra Sangham has appealed to the State Government to form a tripartite committee to finalise minimum wages for textile mill workers. This was one of the resolutions passed at a meeting of the union held here recently. According to a release, the union also pleaded that the committee should finalise minimum wages for the mill workers in three months and it should be implemented immediately.
Bonus
Further, the union sought minimum 15 per cent bonus for the mill workers this year. It demanded that mills should disburse the bonus by October 15. In the case of closed mills in Coimbatore and Erode districts, it said the Government should give Rs. 2,000 each for workers from the Chief Minister's relief fund.
Solution
The union also appealed to the Government to convene a meeting of the unions and mill managements to find a solution to the wage issue of the textile mill workers.
