Police open fire at two fleeing men
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
The police on Tuesday opened fire at two men who were allegedly making away on a motorcycle after snatching a gold chain from a housewife. On hearing the gunshot, the motorists abandoned their vehicle and fled the scene.
The police said that around 1.30 p.m. the two men on the motorcycle snatched a gold chain from Manjula (38) at Bangarappanagar in Rajarajeshwarinagar. The police immediately flashed a message on the wireless, giving details of the motorcycle, and alerted the staff in the neighbouring areas.
The Subramanyapura police, who were on the lookout for the vehicle, spotted the motorcycle at Ittamadu around 1.45 p.m. The staff of the Hoysala patrol squad chased the motorcycle in their jeep. When they were unable to intercept the motorcycle, the Subramanyapura sub-inspector Anil Kumar opened fire from his service revolver. Though the bullet did not hit the vehicle, the scared motorists abandoned their vehicle, climbed the compound of a neighbouring building and ran away through a bushy area, the police said. The police have seized the motorcycle.
