5 of Chhota Rajan gang sentenced
Mumbai:
A special court on Tuesday convicted five members of the Chhota Rajan gang for conspiring to kill diamond trader and film financier Bharat Shah in November 2004.
Vishwanath Atmaram Jadhav, Jagdish Bhaskar Shetty, Nilesh alias Sripad Dhinkar Paradkar and Vinod Sitaram Yadav were sentenced to seven-year rigorous imprisonment and asked to pay Rs. 12 lakh each, while their accomplice Amit Dalvi was awarded five-year RI and asked to pay Rs. 5 lakh.
They were found guilty under provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), IPC and Arms Act.
Chhota Rajan and his aides Bharat Nepali and Ajai Patil, also accused in the case, are absconding. PTI
