`Memory walk' held

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: A `memory walk' held here on Tuesday to create awareness on Alzheimer's disease was flagged-off by City Police Commissioner P. Vijayan. Over 300 people participated in the walk.

The walk was organised on the occasion of World Alzheimer's Day on September 21 as a forerunner to observing the centenary year of discovering Alzheimer's disease.

Students from nursing colleges attached to major hospitals in the city, students of social sciences, family members of patients with Alzheimer's disease, caregivers and staff at the Alzheimer's and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI) participated in the walk.

Seminar planned

The ARDSI will be organising a seminar and a public function on Thursday.

Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish will inaugurate the public function at Ashirbhavan, Kacheripady, at 4 p.m.

On September 29, Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy will release a souvenir at a function at the ARDSI's day care centre.
