KURNOOL: The Andhra Pradesh Mahila Samakhya has urged the Government to set up a regional maternity hospital in the city. At a conference of the Mahila Sangham, affiliated to the CPI, State president and secretary Pasya Padma and Prem Pavani respectively called for urgent steps to eradicate ragging from professional colleges. The meeting urged the Government to waive educational fees in drought affected areas, eliminate irregularities in public distribution system, and steps to check display of indecent film posters. The leaders called upon women to fight for implementation of Acts in support of women which remained dormant like equal pay for equal work and dowry eradication. Leaders - Giddamma, Dastagiramma, Venamma - and others were present.
