Rajahmundry: L. Venugopala Reddy, officiating Vice-Chancellor of Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU), has called upon post-graduate students to excel in their studies. Addressing students, teaching and non-teaching faculty of the new university at the make-shift arts college building on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy said that AKNU was just taking shape and students of the first batch should bring laurels to the university. After the launching of academic session in the university, this is the first time that the Vice-Chancellor addressing students of six courses in the university. He said that only 8 per cent of the literate in the country were reaching higher education level and only 2.5 per cent of them were getting an opportunity to pursue post-graduation. He thanked Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for sanctioning the university, land, infrastructure and other facilities and for suggesting other new universities to take AKNU as a model. C. Ratnam, Officer on Special Duty, said they were able to overcome teething problems.
Freshers' Day
Kakinada: Students should develop communication skills along with planned study for better future, according to Prof. Reddy. Participating as chief guest in the Freshers' Day function at Aditya College here on Wednesday, he said, communication skills were essential for securing better employment. Garikipati Narasimha Rao, Maha Sahasravadhani, the guest of honour, said positive outlook takes students to greater heights in career.
