ALL SMILES: S. Ramadoss, PMK founder with K. Anbhazhagan, Finance Minister and lyricist Vairamuthu at a seminar in Chennai on Tuesday.
CHENNAI: The concept of social justice is gaining greater currency all over the country, Finance Minister K. Anbazhagan said on Tuesday. Praising the Dravidar Kazhagam founder E. V. Ramasamy, the Minister said it was because of the tireless efforts of the departed leader that the concept was being accepted widely. "We should be grateful to him," Mr. Anbazhagan said, delivering the valedictory address at a seminar organised by the Pattali Makkal Katchi here on the contributions of the DK leader. It was the DK founder who liberated the Tamil society from "the grip of orthodoxy and Aryan influence," the Minister said. PMK founder S. Ramadoss said he would shortly announce the formation of a youth force, which would be called "Respect Retrieval Movement." Tamizharuvi Manian, Congress leader, said the youth should study the biographies of K. Kamaraj, Jeevanandam and Ramasamy, leaders of yesteryear. Vairamuthu, poet, said the DK leader instilled the spirit of enquiry among Tamils. C. Mahendran, assistant secretary of the State unit of the Communist Party of India, said Ramasamy sowed the seeds for social transformations in the State. Arulmozhi, DK propaganda secretary, and G.K. Mani, PMK legislature party leader, spoke.
