HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has alleged that the APCC resolution asking Congress leaders not to publicly air views on Telangana is aimed at silencing legislators and MPs from the region. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, TRS leader V. Prakash questioned as to why the Congress leadership had not reacted when MPs and MLAs from coastal Andhra had made statements on Telangana recently.
In favour of Telangana
For the first time, two MPs from Telangana had spoken in favour of Telangana and the resolution was adopted to silence them. Mr. Prakash, who met APCC president K. Keshava Rao on Tuesday night, said that the TRS was not entertaining any illusions that the Congress would come out with a favourable decision on Telangana before September 23 when TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao is scheduled to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee to request him to accept his resignation as Karimnagar Lok Sabha member. He would also meet President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and give a letter withdrawing support to the UPA. He said the TRS would trounce the Congress in the byelection and show how strong the sentiment was for a separate State.
