BIDAR: "The number of pending cases has come down after the fast track courts (FTCs) were set up in the district," Principal District and Sessions Judge P. Krishna Bhat said here on Tuesday. He told presspersons that almost all pending cases before the sessions courts had been disposed of by FTCs in the district. "There are only around 200 cases left before the FTCs," Mr. Bhat said. He urged the public to cooperate with the police and the courts in investigation and trial. "People who are witness to offences should volunteer to depose before the courts. Witnesses turning hostile is one of the main reasons for the low rate of conviction," he added. He said the use of the term "honourably acquitted" was not appropriate. "Courts either decide if one is guilty or not," Mr. Bhat said.
