BIJAPUR: The indefinite fast launched by farmers at the Horthi hobli in Indi taluk seeking the implementation of tank filling project entered the eleventh day on Wednesday. Nearly 60 farmers from Hadalasanga village in Indi taluk are taking part in the fast. The stir is being carried out under the banner of Bijapur Kere Neeru Thumbuva Yojane Horata Samiti since September 10. G.K. Patil, MLC, called on agitators to express solidarity with them. He said he would raise the issue in the next session. The project must be implemented as it was a permanent solution to the water scarcity problem, he said. The Rs. 200-crore scheme sought to fill nearly 100 minor irrigation tanks by pumping water from the Krishna and Bhima. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mohsin, Superintendent of Police Seemanthkumar Singh and Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat Rajeev Ranjan requested the farmers to end the stir.
