MUMBAI: Jet Airways expects that close to half of its revenue will come from international operations over the next three years, as the airline plans to increase its presence in the crowded global civil aviation space.

"We are aiming at 45 per cent of our revenue from international operations, while the balance will come from the domestic routes... studies are on to enhance our revenue share from international operations,'' Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal told reporters after the company's annual general meeting (AGM) here on Wednesday.

At present, international operations account for 12 per cent of the airline's revenue.

The airline has already applied for various routes across the globe, including in the U.S., Europe, the U.K. and various Asian destinations.

Mr. Goyal said the airline would be able to fly the U.S. next year and would get all the necessary regulatory approvals before that. Jet Airways is planning to set up a separate cargo airline either through a joint venture or on its own.

"We are exploring various options for the company and shareholders to launch a cargo airline... whether to go for a foreign partner or start a cargo airline of our own,'' he said.

The cargo tonnage carried by the airline increased by 17 per cent to about 116 million tonne in 2005-06 from 99 million in the previous financial year.

    Board nod for Shah Rukh

The shareholders at the AGM have approved the appointment of Yash Raj Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan and Pierre J. Jeanniot as directors, each liable to retire by rotation.

The AGM also approved the re-appointment of Javed Akhtar, Saroj K. Datta, Ali Ghandour and Victoriano P. Dungca as directors of the company. The company also approved a dividend of 60 per cent for 2005-06. — PTI
