Advance income-tax collections up 30 p.c.

NEW DELHI: Advance collections of income-tax till September 15 during the current fiscal rose by 29.88 per cent to Rs. 37,135 crore from Rs. 28,592 crore mobilised during the same period in 2005-06. Of this, corporates accounted for as much as Rs. 30,898 crore. At this level, the advance IT collection this fiscal was 30.33 per cent higher than that mopped up in the same period a year ago, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) spokesman, A. K. Sinha, told newspersons here on Wednesday.
