NLC `A' in lead

CHENNAI: NLC `A' took a slender half point lead at the end of the fourth round of the NLC golden jubilee Tamil Nadu State team chess championship at Neyveli on Wednesday.

The standings: 1. NLC `A' 12.5; 2-5 ICF, Indian Bank and Velammal `A' 12 each; 6-7 Southern Railway and Coimbatore 10.5; 8. NLC `B' 9.5 and 9-10 Velammal `B' and St. Joseph's 9. The results (fourth round): ICF lost to Velammal `A' 1.5-2.5; Coimbatore lost to Sivakasi 1.5-2.5; NLC `A' bt Pudukottai 3.5-0.5; Kanyakumari lost to Indian Bank 0-4; Tiruchi lost to S. Railway 1-3; St. Joseph's (Chennai) drew with Velammal `B' 2-2; NLC `B' bt Tirunelveli 3-1; Kanchi lost to Tuticorin 1.5-2.5; Velammal `C' bt Cuddalore `A' 2.5-1.5; Nilgiris lost to Jawahar CBSE 0-4; Salem bt Cuddalore `C' 4-0; Dharmapuri lost to Cuddalore `B' 1.5-2.5; S.J.N. School (Chennai) lost to Jawahar CBSE 1.5-2.5; Velammal `D' drew with Velammal `E' 2-2.
