Orders on Gajurel's bail plea today

CHENNAI: Orders on the bail plea of Nepalese Maoist leader Chandra Prakash Gajurel will be passed by the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate here on Thursday.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ayyasamy reserved his orders on Wednesday after counsel for Mr. Gajurel and the Government advocate completed their submissions.

While Mr. Gajurel's counsel said the mandatory pre-arrest formalities had been grossly violated by West Bengal and Tamil Nadu police, the Government advocate said the Maoist leader was arrested pursuant to a warrant issued by a magistrate in West Bengal.
