Marian, Girideepom schools share honours

Central Board of Secondary Education Kottayam Regional Youth Festival concludes

WINNERS: The Marian Senior Secondary School team and the Girideepom Bethany Central School team which shared the overall championship at the Kottayam Region CBSE Schools Youth Festival in Pala on Wednesday. KOTTAYAM: The curtain came down on the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Kottayam Regional youth festival on Wednesday with Marian Senior Secondary School, Kalathipady, and Girideepom Bethany Central School, Kottayam, sharing the over-all championship. They scored 315 points each. Good Shepherd Public School, Changanassery, were the runners-up with 236 points and Chavara CMI Public School came third with 226 points.

Girideepom topped the tally in Categories I, II and IV with Marian Senior Secondary School taking the top position in category III. The valedictory function was presided over by V.J. George Kulangara. A.R. Rajan, District Collector, Idukki, gave away the awards.

The following is the list of toppers in various events held on Wednesday.

Mohiniyattom (Category III): Reshma Baburaj, Marian Senior Secondary School, Kalathipady.

Guitar (Western) Category III: Thomas Dhillan, Chavara CMI Public School, Pala.

Violin (Eastern- Category III): Jishnu Menon, Good Shepherd Public School, Changanassery.

Mimicry (Category III): Immanuel Antony, Chavara CMI Public School, Pala.

Extempore (Malayalam- Category III): Deepak O., Eden Public School, Kottayam.

Tabla (Eastern-category III): Rahul R Kammath, Lake Mount Public School, Kottayam.

Folkdance (Category III): Reshma Baburaj, Marian Senior Secondary School, Kalathipady.

Guitar (Western-Category IV): Vipin George, Good Shepherd Public School, Changanassery.

Monoact (Category IV): Abhay R Thampy, Labour India Public School, Marangattupilli.

Violin (Eastern-Category IV): Manju Nath P, Lourdes Public School, Kottayam.

Mimicry (Category IV): Arunkumar R, Chavara CMI Public School, Pala.

Tabla (Eastern): Vaishak T.C., Lake Mount Public School, Kattikunnu.
