KOTTAYAM: A fighting knock by Jackson Cleetus enabled Kollam reach a respectable total against Pathanamthitta on the opening day of the South Zone inter-district under-15 cricket tournament at the Medical College ground on Wednesday. On a truncated day, Jackson struck a half-century (57) and Rahul Dev made a useful 47 to prop up the Kollam which was dismissed for 201 in 65.1 overs. Siby Christopher (three for 18) was the most successful bowler for Pathanamthitta. Kottayam bundled out Alappuzha for a paltry 131 at the Nehru stadium. Vishnu K. James (three for 26) and Bijo Philip (three for 33) did the damage for Kottayam. The scores: Kollam 201 in 65.1 overs (Jackson Cleetus 57, Rahul Dev 47, Amal Alex 25 n.o., Siby Christopher three for 18) v Pathanamthitta. Alappuzha 131 in 71.1 overs (Shankaran Kutty 51, Vishnu K. James three for 26, Bijo Philip three for 33).
