NEW DELHI: North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL) has announced the launch of electricity bills in a new format for its consumers in the Capital. The new bills in blue and red have a vibrant look to make a distinction between regular bills with no outstanding dues and those that have accumulated arrears. The normal bills will be in blue and those with arrears in red. In case of the red bills, warrants along with a disconnection notice will also be attached. In the case of extreme defaulters, statutory disconnection notices will be sent alongside. The new electricity bills, to be introduced by this month-end, will come in a monthly or bi-monthly cycle, as per present practice, which depends on the consumer's load usage. The format of the new bill is designed in such a way as to make it easy-to-read with detailed billing information, break-up of charges and other useful information. The bills in red format would help sensitise those consumers who have accumulated arrears on their bills. Such consumers quite often face difficulties subsequently by incurring late payment surcharge, possible disconnection and associated inconvenience. An NDPL spokesman said it was hoped that the bill in the red format would caution the consumer to immediately initiate measures to rectify the situation and ensure settlement of dues.
